About

Reading, Writing and Doing Camp is a fun, easy-going day camp for kids who love to read, write, make things, and explore the city.
Home-base is the spacious Fireplace Room above Mockingbird Books, located in the
business district just east of Greenlake.

  • Each five-day session is stuctured around a theme. Campers read books related to that theme. The genres and books they read is up to them.
  • "Stations" for reading, writing, creating, and conversing enable campers to choose their activities.
  • Visiting the bookstore, with no pressure to buy, and Greenlake Library, immerses us in books!
  • Art projects, field trips, and guest speakers relate to the week's theme.
  • Campers are welcome to write whatever they wish.
  • Weather permitting, we will play and lunch at Greenlake.

Annie Gage provides ideas and help with creations, topics for readers who want to talk about their books, guidance for writing, and general supervision.
